My new chair       12:07 PM - Jul 22, 2006

After spending a long time working on my computer on a folding chair, I splurged and bought myself a comfy computer chair. I had a little adventure assembling it, but now it's much, much better than working on the folding chair! It's much better for watching movies and tv shows on my computer monitor.

This is also a test of getting images linked quickly into my news section of the web site. Currently the text isn't wrapping well around the image. I'll have to talk to Ben about that, and see if he has some ideas for me.

Blog Section Added       11:14 AM - Jul 22, 2006

I took the opportunity of 106 degree weather here to hide inside all day and write a blogging section for my web-site. This should make it easier for me to add quick entries to the web-site from all over. I just need to keep adding code sections, etc. This should also be able to add the latest entry to the front page, so recent news can be added quickly.

Work stuff is getting interesting. I'm getting drawn into doing "production assurance" tasks. This is like the work I do normally, only it has to be done much, much faster. Monday morning one section of the movie goes into full-blast production, and there are a few ways we could make their jobs go more smoothly. Anything we can do to help them out makes everybody happy. When the artists are under that kind of pressure, we can also help keep them from burning out. Knowing that we are willing to jump right into problem solving at critical times for a production also helps customers know that their productions won't be held up by our normal software release schedule.

Engage!       3:30 PM - Jul 17, 2006

Jennie said yes!

We went down to the Morton Arboretum in Chicago. It was hot in the sunshine, but nice and cool in the shade. We found a nice shady area in the "Ash" section of the forest garden.

It was wonderful and lovely. There are more details in the Engagement section of the web site.
